The gear pattern was drawn onto the clock face. It was burned into the surface using a pyrography pen. A drill press was used to start the hole for the clock mechanism. A router was used to cut the clock base square out of the back. The clock face was painted with polyurethane to prevent fading of the burn. The clock mechanism and the brass hands were connected to the clock face.
